Treatment Empowerment Scale (TES)™

The TES™ is a self report measure that explores a patient’s perceived degree of involvement in treatment decisions and communications with their Health Care Professionals, particularly around their medication.

Where can it be used?
The TES™ has been validated in a number of conditions, such as HIV, to assess patient empowerment in the context of drug therapy. It can be adapted to assess treatment empowerment in different medical conditions. It is available in a variety of languages

How does it work?
The TES™ assesses the patients perceived degree of involvement within their treatment by assessing components of communication, treatment choice, decisions and satisfaction. The scale consists of 10 items in which respondents rate the extent to which their experience matches each statement on a 5 point Likert scale.
