Pharmacist and Researcher
David has over 27 years of experience as a Pharmacist and Researcher.
In his early career, he mainly focused on work as an analytical Chemist and later on medication safety during the drug administration process and developed a deep interest in the challenges of treating HIV and AIDS.
His first HIV specialist pharmacist role was at Leeds General Infirmary in 1996.
Later he set up a HIV Pharmacy service at the North-West London Hospital (1999). In 2005, he took up leadership of a pharmacy team looking hospitals in Southwest London. In 2008, he became an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber. He has previously been the chair of the UK HIV Pharmacy Association and has sat on the British HIV Association Audits and Standards subcommittee.
In 2013, he was the pharmacist representative in updating the Standards of Care for Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV).
He has published on non-medical prescribing, medication safety and cost-effective prescribing. He has interests in medicines optimisation and patient experience in long-term conditions.
